In the 2013 MPHS Marching Band show we examine the process of healing after a time of pain. The pain depicted in this show means something different to each of us. In movement #1 we are in a state of disbelief and everything seems out of focus. As the movement progresses things become clearer. Anger grips us in movement #2 as we sense that something has changed and we have been through an enormous struggle. By movement #3 the idea of “the absence of pain,” takes hold and we reflect on the peaceful state we have achieved. Finally we have the realization of what has occurred and we are “Revitalized!” and are able to move forward.
The music, Anodynia, being used to explain these feelings was composed by the group “Break of Reality.” The definition of Anodynia is "the absence of pain where pain once was." One of the members of “Break of Reality” graduated from MPHS in 2003 and is a co-composer of this work. The MPHS Band Family is proud to welcome home the music of one of its’ own and celebrate the success that we all can find through hard work and determination!
